Five Simple Brain Exercises

Five Simple Brain Exercises

The premise of these brain aerobics or neurobics is to do familiar things, but do them slightly differently.

Switch Hands

So, a really easy thing to do is to try one of your daily activities -- brushing your teeth or dialing a phone number -- with your non-dominant hand.

I used my left hand to brush my teeth this morning and it's a lot harder than you realize. I really had to concentrate. And basically, what that does, apparently, is strengthen those pathways and connections in the opposite side of your brain.

Close Your Eyes

Try a safe activity, like eating or showering, with your eyes closed. That forces you to use and strengthen your other senses. Most of what your brain does is process what your senses are bringing in. So, closing your eyes forces the brain to process that information in new ways. But one thing you obviously shouldn't do with your eyes closed is drive.

Play Games

Games help you strategize, but the brain is particularly stimulated by multi-tasking. So, play games with other people that require you to strategize and interact socially at the same time. Examples include board, word and card games.

Don't Get Repetitive, Do Something Different

Introducing novelty is crucial. Your brain doesn't need anything complicated; it just needs something new . So, take a new way to work, or sit in a different seat. It forces you to look at the world from a new perspective.

Watch What You Consume

You want to make sure to consume brain-boosting foods or supplements. Try antioxidants in food, such as berries, tea, and leafy greens. And you also want to consume fish oils, which also come in supplements.

features of a good wife

Features Of A Good Wife

God fearing: Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain but a woman that fears the Lord shall be praised. Proverbs 31vs 30. And behold one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life keep the commandments [Matthew 19:17].Perhaps what informed this opinion was the young mans’ observation of the good works Jesus did. He must have concluded that only a good man or woman could be empowered with the innate ability to do good as Jesus did. Contrary to his opinion however, Jesus responded to the young man’s supposition by positing that goodness is an attribute of God, thus only God could be qualified as “good”. Therefore whosoever desires to be good must be empowered by God; he must know God and walk in his commandments. In other words you cannot be good without God. The first quality of a ‘good’ woman therefore is the knowledge and fear of God borne out of a relationship with him through the saving grace of His Son, Jesus Christ! A good woman is one who has submitted her life to Christ and has chosen to walk and live only by the commandments of GOD.
Godly character: A good woman is one whose attractiveness goes beyond her outward beauty. True beauty has to do with the inner qualities of a person and as they say, it goes skin-deep. A good woman is a woman of integrity. Godly character traits like honesty, patience, gentleness, generosity, the loveliness of a smile and the brightness of the eyes tell of the beauty of a woman from the inside. A woman who is always joyful is beautiful. A woman who is gentle and kind and understanding is beautiful. If you are going to work on yourself, you must work on your inside, your integrity and your character. A good woman is the one who has learnt to grow and nurture the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5 vs. 22.Uncouth behavior and foul language will rob you of great opportunities in life and could destroy your destiny.

A wholesome tongue: A woman who knows how to speak good words is a wise woman but this is an area that poses a challenge to many women. What women lack in physical strength, they make up for in verbal strength. A woman may not have the power to hit back at her husband, but she does it very succinctly with her words and many women have lost their homes because of words spoken in anger. Words can build or destroy. That is why Proverbs 4 vs. 24 says “Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk from your lips.”Learn to listen. You need to listen before you talk and when you do you should learn to pick your words carefully. Learn to keep quiet when your husband is talking. Proverbs 10 v 11 says “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.” Let every word you utter bring forth life. When your words are positive, there is no man who would not want to live with you. If you want to be a good wife or mother you must learn to control anger because anger is often the reason we err in words.

A Praying heart: I do not know of any successful wife or mother who does not regularly oil the lamp and burn the flame of prayer. You cannot succeed as a wife, a mother or indeed in anything at all without the prayer of faith. Prayer is the act of submission not to man but to God. It is the means by which you acknowledge your frailty and the fact that you cannot succeed on your own. It is the heart of man crying out to God for help. Woman, there is no alternative to prayer. Prayer will move mountains and fill valleys; it will smoothen the rough and make straight the crooked. Prayer will reveal hidden secrets and take you to heights unknown. Prayer puts you at the feet of Jesus; sets your place at the table of the Lord and gives you the power to cancel every plan of the enemy.
A forgiving Spirit: The challenge we often have as women is that we want to prove that the other person is wrong while we are right. When we choose to do things our way, instead of following God’s instructions, it ends up in regrets because God is always right. The bible says in Galatians 5vs 22 that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace. A woman who harbors unforgiveness in her heart does not walk in love. And when you are not walking in love, you are walking against love, joy and peace and doing what is wrong. In such a situation you are the one with a problem.Unforgiveness robs you of your joy and peace. It is a fight against you. It robs you of your relationship with your husband and other people. Nobody likes to be around someone who is full of offences.

The Value of Time

2> The Value of Time
Value of Time - this will help you value life, time, friends, family and etc! What's it really worth to you?
Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.
It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use
during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!
Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.
Every morning, God credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed
to invest to good purpose.
It carries over no balance.
It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow".
You must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
The clock is running. Make the most of today.
To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a
pre-mature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer with kids to feed.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLI-SECOND, ask the person who won a
silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you
shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.
And remember that time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow a mystery.
Today is a gift.
That's why it's called the present!:)

THE HUMAN MIND

THE HUMAN MIND

The mind is a unique and powerful tool in the human life which, by its nature, not an organ like the heart, possesses the power to make you or mar you.

There is one good thing I like about the mind; its programmable nature. According to the chronicles given to the Christians in the Bible, we understood that every angel that was created was made perfect and holy, including Lucifer. This principle of ‘mind programmability’ was exercised by Lucifer. He turned his once pure and holy mind into a wicked and treacherous entity. He failed at the end.

The concise illustration above helps us understand that even spirits could program their minds. The Bible makes us understand that God’s plan and thoughts towards us are of good-Jeremiah 29:11. Come to think of this, you wouldn’t tell me that God, being a Spirit, doesn’t have a mind, would you? No, you wouldn’t. He does have a mind. You cannot have a ‘thought’ without a ‘mind’ and you most definitely can’t birth a ‘plan’ without thinking. The point is spirits in heaven as well as humans have a mind and that’s where every conscious and unconscious activity in life manifests.

Henceforth, you must understand and have it sink or buried in your subconscious that your mind is the FOUNDATION of your physical life.

YOUR MENTALITY, GIVING AND SUCCESS.

During my first year in the tertiary institution, I used to face financial setbacks and various tribulations that plagued students. I searched for a way out because I believed that there is no trouble without a solution and when there is none, it is never a trouble. I began to read inspiring books including the Bible, Open Heavens and Rhapsody of Realities by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.

The quest for change had begun.

I learnt some truths and principles, mastered some while working on mastering the others. With time, the teaching/principle of Christ in John 8:32 eventually sufficed. I realize the truth and it began to set me free. It dawned on me that one vital secret behind a successful life amongst others, is GIVING in all ramification according to how God, through the power of the Spirit had strengthened you to.

I started out. I applied this principle and it worked tremendously. I started paying my tithes, made pledges and redeemed them immediately God made them available. I continued in this even till now.

On a fateful morning, after having breakfast, I reclined to think of the product of giving and in spite of it, why people suffer. In no time, I understood the problem. There mentality was robbing them of excellence.

People in the world of today, especially the youths, always ‘WANT”. They seek for ways to get, get and get. They are after ’RECEIVING’. “Please, give me.” “Can I have this?” “Can I have that?” “I want this.” “I want that.” You scarcely hear them say, “I want to give this or offer that.” Whenever they don’t have they go ahead to borrow and expand their liabilities.

While taking a walk down the boulevard with a friend who was telling me his troubles and how bad he wants to break free, he said something that I, ignorantly, used to say or think. He said, “I want a girl I’ll be dating and she’ll be spending on me.” I smiled facially, but cringed in my heart when I heard this.

I’m not saying it is bad to ask or receive. Jesus himself wants us to ask such that we might receive—Matthew 7:7, John 16:23, John14:13. Yet, He admonishes us to give—Luke 6:38.

Most youths have conditioned their minds to always get but rarely think of giving. The Bible lets us understand that there is more blessing in giving than there is in receiving.

Your success in life is determined by the wise giving of your liberal heart—Proverbs 11:25, 2 Corinthians 9:6-9. Often, it is hard to. I experience it sometimes, but you just have to because of the joy of receiving from God Himself. Imagine what it will be when God blesses you for the little you’ve given. God’s ways are different from the ways of men. To men, the more you hoard, the bigger you have, but to Jehovah, the Lord God of Heavens Armies, the more you give out, the bigger you have.

When you change your MENTALITY to this principle, you will become a blessing to those around you.

Successful people are givers in every way they can. Solomon gave, Jesus Christ Gave His life, God gave his son, Jesus Christ. A giver is a successful person. I’m not only referring to monetary facets because when people are told to give, they think it’s all about financial talks. It transcends that! You can give your time. You can give your talents, your strengths, your expertise in achieving a collective goal and so many more.

You must also understand that success is not measured by what you have or the material wealth you have accumulated but the lives you’ve touched positively. Jesus Christ came and left with nothing. He touched so many lives even to generations more than 2000 years after His time on earth. He has been the most successful in the record of mankind because He came as a man.

Remember; YOU BECOME A SUCCESS BY WORKING HARD AND GIVING—Ephesians 4:28. First, program your mind to live a LIFE of GIVING and I’ll see you at the TOP
